Spirit Week was lots of fun! Creative outfits from students and teachers! Another great Bonfire enjoyed by all and a very peppy Pep Rally to kick off tomorrow’s Homecoming Games! I hope to see everyone at the games on Saturday and Pack the House on Sunday! We draw the Athletic Raffle on Saturday during the late games so don’t miss out on that. Students in grades 3-8 received a note that listed how many AR points they have and how many they need by the end of Trimester 1. If you didn’t receive it please ask your child about it. If your student needs points they can come to see me in the library during recess any day except Friday. They of course can also do AR during their library period. In order to help your child get their points make sure they read every night either by themselves, to you or with you. Registration for the Turkey Trot is open now! Our Turkey Trot is one of our most successful and important fundraisers. The proceeds from this event pay for our chromebooks for our junior high students. We also run in honor of our wonderful Erica Heilmann who passed away last year after a long battle with cancer. Erica was one of our most reliable and hardest working volunteers. She began helping out before she even had a student here and worked Hawktoberfest just two weeks before she died. We use a portion of the proceeds to award a scholarship to a seventh grader who understands what volunteerism means and whose parents give of their time to St. Linus. Help us continue Erica’s legacy by offering to help out and any of our events throughout the year. On another note parents of students in 3-8 make sure you are checking your child’s grades in power school so that you are aware of how your child is doing in school even before progress reports come out.
