Preschool STEM

Mrs. Dougherty’s Class participated in STEM lessons all this week as they learned all about apples. One STEM activity was when they each created their own apple tree.  The students used paper towels tubes, popsicle sticks, and pom poms to build a sturdy tree to hold as many apples as possible!

A science lesson was also made fun as the kids experimented with Apple volcanoes.  It was messy and fun as they watched the chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar.

The final STEM activity was when the preschoolers  created their own boats made of apples.  They each predicted if they thought their boat would float or sink and designed the sail.  Straws were used to make wind and move the boats.  The goal was to keep the boats afloat and not let the passengers (Lego People) fall off.
