We are so blessed

Our Leahy Library and Media Center is in full swing with students using the new computers for typing and other academic activities.  This week we raised $335 for Breast Cancer Awareness.  How wonderful and what a great group of kids we have to be so invested in helping others. Speaking of that don’t forget that this weekend is Bundle Weekend for Saint Vincent DePaul after all masses.  Students can volunteer to help and parents you can drop off your gently used clothes so they can replenish their stores. I had fun this week doing a crafting class with 1-3 graders.  We made Halloween ornaments (who knew there was such a thing), talked, sang and laughed alot.  I told them we had so much fun we can do it again in November and December so stay tuned.  I have to say that whenever life or the job gets me down all I have to do is spend time with the 1-3 graders and all is right with my world again.  It doesn’t hurt they they think I’m the “bomb” especially the 1st graders.   Sunday is Trunk or Treat after the 12:00 Family Mass.  See you there.  I continued to observe in classes this week and once again was thrilled to see all the learning going on.  6th grade religion is producing some pretty amazing future Theologians.  Ask them about covenants, contracts and the conversion of St. Paul.  AR points are due November 1st.  Students are welcome to come to the library during recess M-TH and before school T-F to take their AR tests.  They should be reading books at home and in their spare time and then coming in to take a test.  We are fast approaching the Turkey Trot, one of our biggest fundraisers.  The money from the race goes toward purchasing our junior high chromebooks as well as funding the Erica Heilmann Scholarship for a deserving 7th grader toward their 8th grade tuition.  The criteria is an understanding of what volunteerism means, an essay about their volunteerism and how they will continue to do service even after grammar school and parents that volunteer here at St. Linus like our Erica did starting before she even had children in school.  She set the bar very high.  After the run parents in 7th grade will receive packets with all the information about how to apply.  Information will be posted on Going Green soon.  Sign up for the race today.  Join us in this wonderful St. Linus Thanksgiving tradition!   Don’t forget the Halloween Parade and all school mass this week.  Don’t forget about the Sports Night honoring our very own alum and parent Joe Vulich as man of the year.  PS anyone who wants to coach or volunteer must take the Virtus class.  Please go on Virtus.org and find a class to attend so you can come in and help out at school. Have a great week!
