The annual 3rd grade trip to Naper Settlement taught us a lot about life in Illinois during the 1800s. We experienced a one-room schoolhouse with some serious rules! We considered becoming a blacksmith’s apprentice or a printer. We visited a “high tech” mansion and an early pioneer log home. We had a picnic and enjoyed some time on a Conestoga wagon. The rain stopped just in time for our trip. What a great day!
