Spanish starts in 1st grade and continues until 8th grade.
In our primary grades (1st through 3rd grade) we work heavily on vocabulary and introductions and greetings. Our program works thematically, so we work on subjects like colors, numbers, house and family, food, and animals. We use the BriteLink projector for Spanish songs and cultural immersion. Students learn both oral and written forms of the language and will be assigned worksheets to reinforce Spanish literacy. They will work both Spanish to English and English to Spanish. This program builds annually and at each grade level the assignments and knowledge are expanded.
Our 4th and 5th grade students expand their knowledge by using more advanced written Spanish in their curriculum and remedial exposure to more advanced Spanish grammar concepts.
Middle School Spanish
Our 6th through 8th grade students will begin more advanced grammar concepts. They will conjugate verbs to form simple written sentences using their growing Spanish vocabulary. In our Spanish program we focus on our Catholicity by incorporating Catholic prayers for our students, beginning in 5th grade with simple short prayer and culminating in 8th grade with up to 4 additional prayers.
Families are encouraged to view our prayers and practice them with your students.
