Principal’s Ponderings

What a great couple of weeks we have had here at St. Linus.  Stations of the Cross, a Wolves Game, a Science Fair, the Constitution test,Confirmation, a Valentine’s Dance and Valentine’s parties.  Not to mention 1st place in 2nd grade soccer and 2nd place in 7th grade girls volleyball.  So much learning is happening in all the classrooms.  Junior High Math is learning Geometry and ask your 7th graders about the Tessellation contest happening.  In Language Arts the 6th graders have been working on a Shark Tank project and are very excited.  Art class is working on a Class Chair for the Hawky Tonk, don’t mind the paint please!  Ask your 3rd grader about equivalent fractions!  Mr. Kraft is introducing Gaelic Football to the 3-8th graders and a good time is being had by all.  1st and 2nd graders are doing rhyming families and double digit subtraction with regrouping.  Great things are going on each day here at St. Linus and I personally have had the pleasure of sitting in on many lessons these last two weeks.  The teachers and the students are so enthusiastic about what they are teaching and learning.  As we begin this third trimester be on the lookout for trips to the Naper Settlement, Feed My Starving Children as well as State Constitution tests, the American Revolution,  more to Kill a Mockingbird and completing the 13th Apostle in Religion.  It’s a Great time to be a Hawk!
